World Refugee Day
The “Doctor Association for Afghan Refugees” was founded on December 3, 1983 by doctors to provide humanitarian support to Afghan refugees in and outside of Afghanistan. Up to now, AFAF implanting loots of the project to better life of Afghan refugees and internal displace.
At least 79.5 Million forcibly displaced people worldwide at the end of 2019. Among them are nearly 2.5 million refugees about half of them under the age of 18.
There are more than 2.5 million regestrted refugees from Afghanistan in UNHCR , There are also thousands of stateless people, who have been denied a nationality and lack access to basic rights such as education, health care, employment, and freedom of movement.
A refugee is someone who fled his or her home and country owing to “a well-founded fear of persecution because of his/her race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group, or political opinion”, according to the United Nations 1951 Refugee Convention. Many refugees are in exile to escape the effects of natural or human-made disasters. (UNHCR)
